The Club Équestre Les Forestiers has set up the preservation of the trail network as its most important mandate. With the support of the municipalities and many owners of private land, it succeeds in offering a top-quality network for riders of the area in spite of the reduction of open green space. Negotiations are constantly ongoing to preserve and acquire our right of way in the region. Members of Club Equestre Les Forestiers are blessed with a natural woodland area of approximately 300 square miles combined with some of the most spectacular views and unbelievable footing for riding all year round. Our extensive riding trails include parts of the communities of St. Lazare, Hudson, Ste. Marthe, St. Clet and Les Cèdres, Vaudreuil-Dorion and Rigaud. The core of our riding area is centered around the Centre de Plein Air les Cèdres, a year-round recreational facility, offering both summer and winter sports for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts, and the La Pinière conservation area. All of our horse trails are clearly identified and marked. Large area maps for equestrians are posted in the woods at several intervals, are easy to read and ensure that equestrians stay on the horse trails and find their way safely home at the end of the day. Blue signs indicate that it's a year-round trail on municipal land. Red signs indicate that you are on private property. Yellow signs indicate that this is a cross-country ski trail and therefore it is only available to riders from April 15 to November 15. Our equestrians enjoy the benefits of safe, groomed trails which are maintained on a regular basis by volunteers. At least once a year the club organizes an annual trail cleanup day. All our members are notified of this event and encouraged to come out and lend a hand to help clean up the horse trails, and help keep our natural wonderland clean. We encourage our riders to report any fallen trees/damaged bridges etc. The club will promptly arrange to have the problem looked in to and dealt with. |
