music: Oooohhhh it's so cold today!mood: The Parade - O'Madness - O'Mayhem- O'Pei-Pei!

Top o'the Morning to Ya!
Today we are IRISH Shar-Pei!
St. Patrick's Day Parade - Montreal 2006
Chinese Shar-Pei become Irish Shar-Pei
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is more than clear, is that the O'Pei-Pei group, dressed in their matching white and green St. Patty's suits, were the hit of the canine crusaders today.
From the very moment of our arrival, at the sidelines, and throughout the entire parade, we heard it all; "Oh.. those must be Irish mastiffs... nope.. those must be Irish bulldogs.....or I even heard someone say, oh yes, I know those dogs, those are the dogs from the car commercial.......... "
We told everyone; "No, these are not mastiffs, these are very rare IRISH SHAR-PEI"!
What is even more clear, is that Dawn and Pebbles have certainly reached fame, notariety, coupled with stardom. I fully expect them to be slathered all over the front pages of all our locals newspapers tomorrow morning if not tonight. When those two girls do it - they do it right!
These heavily sought after duo, couldn't spread themselves thin enough for the phototraphers, parade float divas and news people. It became, "take-a-number only", as Dawn and Pebbles were swept from float to float, from camera to camera. How did they ever manage to survive the day I ask!!!!
What a day! From sun, to snow squalls, to wind, to warmth, we had it all today. The music was festive - the spirit from the crowds amazing. Dawn did her very best to keep all the pei-lings happy and warm and focussed on the parade!
The contingent of O'Pei-Pei were celebrated, revered and respected from all sides and street corners. The applause was wonderful, and spurned us onwards and forwards against the chilly March wind in today's parade!
Miss O'Mei-Mei
O'MeiMei, well , as always charmed the hearts and souls of all and any who saw her.
Miss O'Pebbles
O'Pebbles... well, take a number, next time she puts in a cameo, rush over and get her autograph, one of these days, it will be worth millions!
Miss Sass-o-flaherty
Blind Sassy wins the hero award today for her exlempary effort in street parade navigation, dealing with loud noises, tons of errant hands and fingers, and WOW can she ever hold "it" in until after the parade. YEAHHHHH... BLIND DOGS RULE!!! - Who says blind dogs can't do parades?
Miss April O'Malley
April -May wins the award for kissable, hugguable, kissable, huggable. She's definitely our PR girl, with her pei chops ever ready to dole out pei kisses. She also our hero of total non-inhibition in front of strangers... when that girl's gotta go... she's gotta go! and nothing stops her!
Miss Mini O'Neil
-and let's not forget sweet Minnie, MeiMei's sister, who was a wonderful addition to the O'Pei-Pei group!
Minnie , so elegantly dressed in her designer clothes with a charming addition to our group and to the entire float. What a wonderful lady she truly is!
We are all home and toasty warm. Poor Dawn had frozen fingers and toes (the woes of celebrity status no doubt), and I hope we are all up early tomorrow morning to catch the first edition of Dawn and Pebbles in print.
Thaw out dear Dawn, that's what the Jameson is for!!!!
On the serious side, being there was an opportunity for all dog owners to publically express their concern about Puppy Mills and help people understand the dangers of buying dogs from pet stores, back yard breeders and puppy mill suppliers. Well worth the effort I'd say!
Animatch is a wonderful rescue society. It's always a pleasure to offer support!
