Montreal Jazz Festival 2006 awaits you Savannah!

Indeed we are so lucky here. There's always something going on in Montreal.
Places to go, things to see and lots of fun stuff to do. Crutches and all we headed downtown to Place Des Arts to take in some of the 32nd annual International Montreal Jazz Festival. Tonight, the Neville Brothers are on stage for a free concert. The sweet , magical sounds of Louisana.. it's a "must see".

BELOW: My daughter Christina is heading up the stairs from the Metro. Savannah racing ahead of her. I'm still at the bottom of the stairs struggling with my crazy crutches. (Ankle still broken).
We decided to be wise and not drive downtown. No where to park, too many people.

BELOW: Over 250,000 people strong, we danced to the fine musique of the Neville Bros till at least 11:30 pm. Aaron Neville's voice is magic and so were all the sounds eminating from the stage. This year, the organisers did a fantastic job. No matter where we went, we could see them up on stage via huge flat screen TV's and the sounds was excellent quality high fidelity! Tonight is the rendition to Paul Simon, featuring Elvis Costello and many other notables. We'll be there early to get good positioning. After the show, we recommend walking around nearby Chinatown and take in the scenes there. You can read up on the jazz festival at:

The jazz festival lasts a strong nine days, after which we head right into Festival Les Nuits d'Afrique, which is an outstanding cultural event too!

This Saturday, expect to see us at the 2006 Carifete too!

Then ... a few days later... the Just for Laughs comedy starts... gosh, it's going to be a busy Summer!
We hope you'll join us in all the fun!

You are really lucky to live there. Anytime you have any doubts about that, please consider this:
For a secluded semi- hermit like me, up on a mountain in VA, seeing the news of these festivals in the second-largest French- speaking city in the world REALLY make me want to second-guess my decision to remain here. I wonder what it would take to get the gov't of Quebec to allow me to move there with family and fur-kids. Since that is probably too expensive, I wonder what it would take to get my family to send me on a vacation trip to Montreal.... I guess if they understood what Montreal was all about, they'd make me stay home while THEY went on the vacation trip. Well, it is nice to see the images, and read about, Montreal, even if I can't personally be there.
Give Merlin and MeiMei and all a big hug from me.
-Ted
