11/06/2006: "Considering Adopting A Rescue?"

music: Get OFF THE FENCE and into the program
mood: Chowy Chowy Chowy

There are so many rescue angels out there, just waiting for a home. Some of them old, many of them young, but one thing is for sure, they all just want to be loved. If you are still sitting on the fence and undecided about whether or not you should adopt a rescue, please read on;

The Ultimate reward... a blind dog so confident, they can run to you on
command, stay on the path, keep their balance and move forward at speed
totally off leash! Go Grannie Pei!
Here's the proof!
What a great grannie pei she is!

Grannie pei is a rescue from the MAINE catastrophe last January.
The vet assumes her to be 11 years old. She is blind due to neglected entropian and gross infection from constant exposure to bacteria and un-sanitary conditions coupled with gross nystigmus. She came to us last January 2006 with no social skills whatsoever, she had pyrometra so badly, that it had ulcerated outwards and had several large holes were in her abdomen area which were full of live maggots. We feel she had a week or less to live. Sassafrass weighed 32 lbs when she arrived here, she now weigh 58 lbs.

Since she has been here, she has asked us for nothing, except a little love here and there, a warm clean place to sleep and a bit of food. Only foster flunkies like ourselves understand the amazing love that comes out of the hearts of rescues. You haven't lived until you've experienced that.

So please, if you're still sitting on the fence, take the plunge and open your heart and home to a rescue, better still, a handicapped rescue.

Thank you!

They give us so much and ask for hardly anything in return. And they are such inspiring examples of unconditional love. Words fail me tonight. Bless you.

these stories of the peis from rescue, and especially Sassy's story are incredible. she is a delight to see. you have helped give her confidence, when clearly, she was losing everything. i am considering a shar pei as i lost my dear Raziel last year, and your stories of love have prompted me to consider rescue. i will be looking. thanks for all you do....you are a guardian angel for these dear sweet souls.

Thank you for encouraging rescue. My moms work hard in rescue to find homes for boxers like me!
