12/13/2007: "It's SO DARN Cold!!!"

I don't care if it's -17 or -30 ... it's STILL *&^% cold!!!
This morning MeiMei decided she wanted nothing to do with the weather and stayed home in bed rather than run around in the cold.
Die Hard Merlin, never says no! Peanut always has to come along to supervise things so she said "yes", too.

BLIND DOGS WALKING IN THE SNOW!!!
What a lovely sight

Somewhere on our walk she lost one of her booties and died a thousand paw deaths. She really can't take the cold for more than a few seconds.
She lifts her paws off the ground and purposely falls onto her chest, then she squeeks and squeeks. I had to pick her up and carry her home, (and we were quite a distance). I looked everywhere for her boot but couldn't find it. I will have to bring a spare with me (just in case).

Poor Peanut and poor me. There was black ice everywhere and I walked home with my heart in my hands for fear of falling with Peanut and potentially un-doing something in my back. Anyways, it all turned out well and we made it home. I do have a harness for Merlin and I think from now on, I'm going to take it along so when Peanut loses a boot, and just runs out of gas, we can pack her into the sleigh and keep walking. Actually comes to me that it's a good idea anyways, because Peanut can't really walk far and Merlin and MeiMei are good for an hour's walk minimum. This way we'll be able to continue. So I'm in the market for a nice sleigh!

Well, Chows were used as cart-pulling dogs for several millenia in China and Mongolia, and their feet are hairy even on the bottoms, so Merlin should be able to pull a small sleigh for you. I wonder tho if it doesn't violate some rules of decorum for a King to pull a sled.

What sweet babies! Our guys won't get to play in the snow, we're in Louisiana and it's 80 degrees! I love their coats and hats and booties, fabulous!

What wonderful experiences Peanut has now! She gets out more than I do, honestly. Merlin is better suited for that weather than any of us, so I'd have to agree with MeiMei and sleep in.
