Flooding in Pierrefonds, Quebec
We have had SO much snow this Winter, the River is exploding over it's banks!
No one here wants to lose their homes from the imminent flood.
The residents are all worried. It's Sunday morning, April 12th, 2008 and the water is rising.
The river has burst it's bank!!! Flooding in Pierrefonds! A small suburb of Montreal.
The flooding isn't only here. The high and rising water is effecting many communities and cities positioned along the St. Lawrence.

By noon we were really getting anxious. The water trickle had developed into a forceful stream and was now on our lawns and in at least one case, was pouring under a neighbour's home. We called the City for help and they haven't arrived yet. We started taking our first floor furnishings and carrying them upstairs on to the second floor.

We started to pray and hope for the best. We made contingency plans in the event we have to evacuate our little home. It's truly a scary position to be in. We are all starting to appreciate the fear the people in New Orleans must have gone through.
All kinds of arrangements for the chowdren. Bags to be packed, food rations to be packed, and jangled nerves to be calmed somehow.
The City workers finally came with sandbags around 2:00 pm in the after noon. We desparately let out a sigh of semi relief and hopes and prayers that they would solve our problems.

The City, Ville de Pierrefonds, did a nice job with the sandbags and created a dyke to retain the advancing water. The weather is really cooperating and staying on the cold size to stop the snow from melting too fast. This morning at 8:00 am the water in front of the dyke was frozen, (which is good). I find I am a little less stressed today, but the weatherman is announcing warm, warm weather for the next two days.... no time to get too comfortable.
We can't let all this stress affect our patriotism to hockey. The HABS (Montreal Canadians / Les Canadiens ), are BOSS and kicking butt this year. It's our chance to bring home the Stanley Cup to it's proper home where it has lived in the past for so many, many years.
Little Peanut is out there right now as we speak, looking for her hockey buds and trying to get her, " Hockey Night in Canada ", evening going.

Realizing that the flooding isn't going to go away overnight, we have to stay strong and use our energy to focus on THE HABS, so that they SCORE GOALS tonight, and kick *ss!
Imagine our relief when we looked over the sandbag dyke only to find that ALOT of water has receeded!!!! WOOOOO HOOOO!!!!!!! This will give us an excellent chance to get through the next rise of the river slotted for Thursday!!!

All the neighbours, albeit flooded are showing great spirit for tonight's game! GO HABS GO!!!!
